Paris - 27/9/2007. "All increases!", my mother-in-law complained still yesterday by buying her rod about bread... Admittedly pretty mom, but sometimes that has good! As on new the Honda Transalp for example, whose engine gains a few cubic centimeters in 2008 and especially some horses and Nm...
Its commercial name will be from now on XL700V Transalp. But the new engine of the trail Honda will cube actually 680 DC, that is to say 33 DC moreover compared to the version 2007 thanks to an increased boring of 2 Misters And after it does not matter, because essence lies in the profit - considerable - in power and in maximum couple like, let us hope for it, on all two curve...
Thus the 53 horses and the 55 Nm of the old version leave place to the 60 CH and 60 Nm of the "new" Honda engine. Results obtained thanks to larger pistons and lighter rods on the one hand, but more especially thanks to the new high part of the engine on the other hand: simple camshaft in heads (double in 2007) but 8 valves instead of 6!
Moreover, the Transalp news gives up its two carbus for injection PGM-F1 and one can observe the swelling of the pot under the engine... The chart confirms it: Transalp is in conformity with the Euro3 standard!
In fact, this twin-cylinder is not other than "the last generation of this worthy engine (that of first Transalp of 1987, note), recently developed to propel the NT700V Deauville", explains Honda (to read Essai Motor bike-Net.Com of March 2, 2006).
The capacity of its tank passes from 19 to 17,5 liters, "but the clear improvement of the consumption authorized by the food by electronic injection makes it possible to preserve and to even increase autonomy", the manufacturer reassures.
"With the final one, if only one parameter were to symbolize the progress made by this new engine, it is probable that the sonority which it produces while going up in the turns would be that selected", concludes the world number one. With its shorterexhaust "and more harmoniously integrated, Honda envisages to bewitch the pilot. The Transalp news is thus to see and listen!
Level left cycle, the trail Honda evolves/moves more carefully: even "doublecradle out of steel tubes tallies that that used since the appearance of its second generation in 2000", even arm oscillating and shock absorber Pro-Link. On the other hand, the fork loses in clearance (177mm against 200) and the angle of mounting opens slightly (28,23° instead of 28°), to undoubtedly increase stability.
With regard to the wheels, the hour is not yet in Supermotard: even if the rims are they also "inflated" (19 X 2,15 with before and 17 X 3,50 with the back), the tires remain relatively fine and high (100/90 with before and 130/80 with the back). The fighter spirit remains quite present!
Level braking, the news Transalp 2008 is equipped with series of a double disc before 256 mm gripped by clamps two pistons, but it can also accomodate expensive the Combiné/ABS system in Honda. In this case, the clamps are models three pistons, of which one is actuated by the back footbrake pedal.
